We recently received news that on September 1st the .COM registry, Verisign, will be raising their prices for new registrations, renewals and transfers for all .COM domains. We, in turn, are forced to raise our prices for .com domain names as well.
This price increase for .COM domains was expected. While the base prices had been frozen since 2012, Verisign started increasing its prices in September 2021. Under its agreement with ICANN and the U.S. government, Verisign is allowed to increase prices by 7% per year in the last four years of every six-year contract term. This will be the third increase of this contract term, and the company is expected to increase the price again next year to complete the four allowed price increases.
Therefore, we are recommending you take advantage of the current pricing and renew your .COM domains for up to 9 years and save yourself the additional fee for the coming years. You can make use of this opportunity right up until September 1st.
